With it, a deep, biting cold swirled into the cave. She really should put out the fire. But it was so warm and friendly. And Anya felt so alone. Put it out. It was time to get going. Although the cave entrance was partially blocked, someone at the perfect angle might see the light. Maybe that one, last, persistent pilot--although she hadn't heard the craft since noon. He must have given up, too. For now. Unfolding her trowel, Anya chipped up a mound of frozen ice and mud and cast it onto the fire. It flickered, but didn't go out. "Don't put it out on my account." The low, rough voice made her gasp, and she whipped out her laser.Joshua. He seemed to fill the entrance. The elite, cream military parka made his shoulders seem wider, his body more solid and forbidding. "You." Hands trembling, she lowered the weapon. "Of course it's me. I'm your protector. Who did you think would come for you?" Palpable fury simmered in him, deep and hot, yet tightly leashed, as were every one of his emotions, always. In the past, she had wished that just once she could break through the impenetrable shell he enclosed around himself. Just once, she'd like to see him snap, to glimpse the true man underneath all the medals and the power that fit him like a glove. To especially see beyond the shiny honor of hero worship with which she'd clothed him when they had first met. She had always wanted to please him. Review

Okay, I must admit I was disappointed in this one. I am a huge fan of the authors book Commander's Desire...but I just didn't enjoy this one as much. (OKAY not even close to as much. I LOVED Commander's Desire) The first thing I struggled with was the LANGUAGE. I was shocked by how much bad language it had in it...especially since the author starts out with the first page having a scripture reference. To each his own though...I know that it doesn't bother some people...but it does me and it makes it hard for me to enjoy a book. Okay, next thing that I struggled with was the amount of detail and description when it came to the war strategies. I found myself bored with it and kind of skimming some of it a bit. YET that's just ME and my personal dislike for that kind of thing. I know other people really like that. I think it would make a good movie.....one I would enjoy watching more so then reading about. Does that make sense? For example I would never read a book about Star Wars...just not for me...yet I enjoy the movies. I just get tired of reading about...death and blood and destruction etc. I'm too much of a chick lit book girl I guess:). I must say though I LOOOOVED the ending of the book. LOVED it! I was also definitely drawn into the story and enjoyed the first as well. I enjoyed the characters and the plot....and if it weren't for the language especially, I would have given it a higher rating. I enjoyed the "love story" and the hero and heroine and if the author writes the next in the series I will read it.
