Book 2 of the latest Duet by Maggie Cole picks up where THE AUCTION ended. Blakely Fox-Madden has found out the ugly truth her beloved husband, Riggs, had not shared with her. The destruction of her father and mother with videos and pictures of her from the newlyweds sexual relationship. At the same time, her music career has taken off. Her agent Noah is untrustworthy. The singer on tour “loves” her like a sister and is excited to have her working the concert series with her. Riggs remains angry, frustrated and controlling. Blakely remains determined to chart her own independent path with or without her husband. Her trust issues are real. Riggs has controlled her security and Noah wants him removed, and excludes him from his wife’s working schedule. Obviously this does not bode well. Blakely’s mother Marilyn, demands that the money Riggs took back into the company he built with Hugh Matthews, her father, be returned as Marilyn can’t live “poor”. And Riggs just wants his wife back. Through a series of twists and turns that are not always obvious, will trust be rebuilt? Will Riggs and Blakely find their HEA? Who exactly is “King Madden” and what is his role in this mix? Can both Colton and Blakely have the careers which both want on their own terms? Ms Cole has intriguing, conflicted, flawed and feisty characters. Blakely is a determined young woman and her husband, who she loves and is loved in return have to find a way back to each other. Is Riggs capable of relinquishing control? And Colton? The spirit of fun and I’ve and perhaps the big brother Blakely needs. A fabulously hot, complicated and well written Book 2. WELL DONE.. 5+ stars.
