It gives you the weapons to teach children the beauty of being bilingual and embracing both cultures.We have a 5 year old who we taught both English and Spanish since he was born and was very fluent in both. At age 4 he started school and since is an English school (only one in our area) he was not allowed to communicate in Spanish, plus the classmates would tell him that he was wrong by using the language. As a result my son felt ashamed of speaking Spanish, and switched to English only. So I bought the book for support.The book is written in English, as a story of a little girl discovering her “superpower“ of being bilingual and helping communicate another student who only speaks Spanish to English classmates, provides examples of typically simple words used in Spanish and telling the benefits of speaking 2 languages from a kids perspective.My son immediately identified with the book and I explained that being bilingual is a super power that helps people communicate in English and Spanish he would tell my friends “we have a superpower” and explained them. Now he is so confident and fluent in both languages and proudly embraces our culture beautifully.
