Review
6/10 starsI'm reserving my judgement till I read more of Naruto. For now, I see a rather stereotypical story very heavily indebted to Dragon Ball, with some promise but also a lot of baggage. The treatment of girls especially is ludicrous. They can be ninjas, theoretically, but mostly they're in the story to enact unending cat fights for the privilege of being the one more in love with an emo prince of darkness who basically doesn't seem to care about anything but revenge. Naruto himself is a nice enough character, seemingly modeled at least partly after Goku, and there are also a few side characters that show a lot of potential. Paradoxically, the most interesting characters in the three volumes were the members of the older generation: Kakashi and Might Guy. To be fair, though, my opinion might change easily - every manga has weaker volumes, and these three may just be it. We'll see soon enough! :D.
